We are delighted to announce that we have managed to secure David Beaton, author of Dorset Maps published by Dovecote Press, to deliver this presentation.

It will cover the history of map-making in general and Dorset in particular to show how different political, economic, commercial and military needs shaped our understanding of how we most accurately represent the are we live in.

It will be supported by displays of some original copies of historic maps and atlases provided by David and by Ian Gosling and Anthony Harrison so this is one of those talks that definitely will benefit from attending in person rather than via Zoom

Will be held at the Dorford Centre in Dorchester starting at 7.30pm
